Day 1 in Paris

Ok well it's been two long fun packed days. This is the first chance
we have really had to relax.

Day 1: We got off the plane and hit the ground running. We each only
brought carry-ons so we did not have to deal with baggage claim that
would be assuming that our luggage would have made the 30-40 min
connection since the first plane was more than an hour late due to the
PA system not working. Anyways we are glad we took Rick Steve's advice.

We hopped a train to Paris and headed straight for our hotel to drop
off our bags. We were very happy to discover that our hotel was right
next to the metro station. We dropped off our bags and took off to the
closest landmark the Arc de Triomphe. It was really cool but much
cooler that night when we took pics of it and climbed to the top to
take pics of the Eiffel Tower. After leaving the Arc we walked down
the Champs-Elysees then turned toward the river to see the Eiffel
Tower. We got to the tower (on valentines) and the line to the top was
long so we just took pictures.

Then we went to see Napoleons Tomb and the Army Museum. Napoleans Tomb
was very cool he is actually in like 15 coffins but the one on the
outside is a red marble that is huge! The Army Museum of France is
well, about as good as their military. Lots of cool guns (never shot,
dropped twice).

Next we grabbed some lunch at this little restaurant we had chicken
and soup. By then it was 3 pm so we went to check in to the hotel.
Hotel is really nice, our room is small though. We got some much
needed sleep for 4 hrs.

Finally at 7pm we got up, loaded the camera stuff and went to take
night pictures of all we had seen that day. As I said we got great
pictures from the top of the Arc of the Eiffel Tower. We timed it just
right because the Eiffel "twinkles" every hour at the top of the hour.
I was set up on a tripod so I got great pics. Then we rode the metro
down to the Eiffel and took some night pictures there as well again
catching the twinke.

We got home at midnight and crashed hard!
